Privacy
Calmence is a slow-breathing wellness app. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to make the app useful, and we try not to surprise you.
Short version
Your session data lives on your phone. We do not collect, sell, or share it. There is no account, no backend, and no analytics. You can export or delete your data at any time from inside the app.
What the app stores
Calmence is an Android app. Everything it stores stays on your device:
- Your name — only what you typed during onboarding. Used to personalize the greeting on the Today screen.
- Session history — date, duration, breath rhythm, optional self-rated mood before/after, optional journal note. Stored locally using Android SharedPreferences.
- App settings — your preferred sound, voice, haptic intensity, and theme.
- Optional reminder time — if you set a daily reminder, the time is stored locally and used to schedule a local notification.
None of this is uploaded anywhere. There is no Calmence server. There is no account.
Permissions Calmence requests
- Notifications — only if you enable a daily reminder. The reminder is scheduled locally and never goes through any server.
- Vibration — to drive the optional gentle haptic pulses during a session.
Calmence does not request location, contacts, microphone, camera, storage, or any health-data permissions in v1.
What this website collects
This site is a static landing page. We do not set our own cookies, do not run analytics, and do not collect anything you don't actively submit. The site loads Google Fonts from Google's CDN, which sets its own cookies under Google's privacy policy. If you want to avoid that, most browsers let you block third-party requests.
Newsletter signup
If you submit the email form on the homepage to join the waitlist, your email address (and the IP address of the request) is sent directly to Loops (loops.so/privacy), which we use to send a single launch announcement. We do not use your email for any other purpose. You can unsubscribe at any time from the link in the email, or by emailing hello@calmence.com.
Third parties
The Calmence app does not communicate with any third-party service in v1. The only network requests originating from the app are operating-system-level checks performed by Android itself.
The marketing website (this site) uses two third parties:
- Google Fonts — typography, served from Google's CDN.
- Loops — only when you submit the waitlist email form on the homepage. Loops processes your email address to send the launch announcement. See above.
Data retention
Your session data lives on your phone until you delete it from inside the app (Profile → Delete my account) or uninstall the app. There is nothing to retain server-side because there is no server.
Your rights
You can export your data as JSON or CSV at any time from Profile → Export my data. You can delete everything Calmence has stored at any time from Profile → Delete my account, or by uninstalling the app.
Children
Calmence is not directed at children under 13. Please don't use it if you're under the age required by your local law to consent to this kind of app.
Changes
If we change how data is handled, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify users in-app.
